Cradle to cradle
We are definitely aware that sustainable still means that we are placing a burden on our environment. We make every effort to minimise this burden. That's why we embrace the "cradle-to-cradle" philosophy. We will continue to make our contribution, in order to create a society that environmentally sustainable and which handles raw materials with respect.
We see waste as a food, namely as a raw material for new products. We try to separate and then recycle different waste types as much as possible. That way, we are also thinking of our future generations by avoiding any unnecessary waste of scarce raw materials and by reusing them instead. This also reduces CO2 emissions. After all, we do not destroy any raw materials by way of incineration. In fact, incineration releases 3 times more CO2 than recycling.
All of the vehicles used by Baetsen consume fuel. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do about this. That's why we have implemented various measures to ensure that fuel consumption is limited. When making replacements in the lorry park, we ensure that the motors are as clean as possible. Our new vehicles have the Euro 5 standard as a minimum.
Almost all of our vehicles comply with the latest European standards. We have six waste collection vehicles that run on green gas. This means that they are completely CO2-neutral. In addition, all of our drivers are trained in the new driving method, so that they drive efficiently and save fuel, which in turn benefits the environment.
